About Island Pecan Company
Our Story
Island Pecan Company was established to provide quality shelled pecans at the best prices to the wholesale and retail market. We also offer custom shelling and packaging for the retailer or candy maker. We are located in the central part of Louisiana along the rich alluvial soils of the Mississippi River in Pointe Coupee Parish. Island Pecan Company derives its name from the "Island" of False River, the eastern side of an oxbow lake which was formed in 1722 when the Mississippi River changed its course. Before the Mississippi River changed its course, the eastern side was like an island surrounded by the river. Centuries of river flooding prior to the levee system has provided the best soil to grow quality native and improved fresh pecans.
Our Orchard-to-Table Philosophy
At Island Pecan Company, we take pride in providing high-quality natural pecan meat grown on orchards that are rich in soil. Our pecans are naturally grown and are a beautiful golden color, not the brown overcooked color you commonly see in stores.
